SHAHRUKH KHAN DETAINED AT NEWARK AIRPORT(NJ) IN USA

Shahrukh Khan was detained for about two hours early Saturday morning at the Newark airport in the United States of America and then released later after some questioning.
As per the reports, his baggage was checked & he was even not permitted to make a call for some time.

Khan is on a visit to US to attend an Indian Independence event as the guest of honour.
The Indian Superstar came to suspicion as he has a common “surname” and was asked about the purpose of his visit to the states.
Congress MP Rajiv Shukla came to his rescue and got king khan relased after talking to the officers in US and the Indian embassy officials.
Speaking to TOI, the actor said: “I told them I was a movie star and had recently visited the country for the shooting of my film. Nothing seemed to convince the immigration officer. There were other immigration officers who even vouched for me but this particular officer did not listen to anyone. I even told them I had an invitation from the South Asian community and was there to attend an event.’’
Incidentally, Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming releases “My Name is Khan” is based on this issue.
